Current Reads!

Welp the bad news of this post is that I'm yet another book behind of reaching my goal of 24 books this year. The good news is I did read ONE book last month so I'm at least making a little bit of progress! Last months book was Well Met by Jen DeLuca. This is an adorable romcom book (no surprise there) I read it in one night because it was so cute and I couldn't sleep. (This quarantine life has got my sleeping all kinds of messed up!) This book is about a gal, Emily that moves to a small town to help her sister recover from a car accident and ends up being a taxi for her teenage niece. She gets roped into taking part in the renaissance fair as a tavern wench. In true romcom fashion she ends up falling for an english teacher that she once butted heads with. Was this book predictable? Yes. Do I care? No way, I want to read another please! Now more than ever I'm looking for moments to just escape into a more predictable world. I didn't understand this about the romcom genre and how it provides an escape but I clearly understand it now. The world is like its never been before and cute things make it feel less scary.

Let's hope I buckle down and read more this month!

Current Reads!

My goal of reading two books each month hit a snag last month because I only read one. I thought I was better at managing my time, but turns out I was wrong. B U T I did manage to squeeze one book in! That books was The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo by Taylor Jenkins Reid. This book was AH-mazing! Most definitely my favorite book of the year (out of the three so far) This book was a little bit slow to get into but worth it sticking it out! This books basically tracks though an actresses scandalous career now that she has aged she is ready to share her story! Of course it much more twisty then that, but thats kinda the idea of it. This book touches on so many relationships and how complicated they can be. It dives into a lot about what it meant to be a successful lady at the time and what it still means to be successful as a women. Evelyn was ruthless with no regrets, clawing her way out of poverty into stardom. When you think about it that can create such a sad life albeit a successfully famous one and one that we can all learn from. This book also explores sexual identity and how its never as simple as we'd like to think. The vast variety and delicacy of relationships mentioned in this book causes so much self reflection. I can't recommend this book enough! If you have read it, what did you think? Were you as shocked as I was at the ending??
What are you reading lately?

Food Baby Zine!

One of the goals that I set out for this year is to make a new zine every month! For the month of January I made this overly cute zine called Food Babies! Its an art zine that features all of my favorite island foods and little happy babes. I worry a lot that the art I make is "too cute" but honestly right now I needed some cuteness. Winter is taking its toll and I needed a distraction. I used pen and gouache on these illustrations. I've come a L O N G way with my gouache skills. It felt kinda good to apply all that i've learned into this cute little zine. Also I found that gouache scans much better than watercolor, thus saving me a lot of editing!
I've got ambitious plans for February with the zine I have in the works and I can't wait to get more of it completed! I think the contrast between this zine and my next one might be drastic and that excites me. I'm going to be tabling at zine fest come spring and my table is going to be a mishmash, BUT hopefully a beautiful array nonetheless!
You can find a flip though of this zine on my instagram HERE! As always if you'd like a copy or to trade drop me an email at remikeahi@gmail.com!

Current Reads!

To reach my goal of reading 24 books this year, I need to read 2 books every month. So far I'm off to a great start! The first book of the year was Franny and Zooey. Now I've read this book multiple times before, but I needed a page for a project (that'll post soon!) and I decided to take one from this JD Salinger classic. This book is a great part of my personal history. When my parents were picking baby names for me and my twin Franny was in the running. I'm very glad they went with Remi! BUT ever since I was in high school I thought I'd have a this great connection to this book. Honestly the first couple times I read it I h a t e d it. Its strange, long and kind boring. Its mostly just conversations and obscure references. I kept re-reading it and each time I kept finding more and more meaning. Of course I'm sure its one of those situations where you start to read what you want to read and find meaning that you're looking for. Regardless it was a lovely quick weekend read! I've found this is one of those books and people either hate or love. If you've read it what are your feelings?
The second book of the month was Natalie Tan's Book of Luck and Fortune by Roselle Lim. I chose this one because I knew it was going to be about food and Chinese culture which fit perfectly for the Lunar New Year this month. After reading the bad reviews on Good Reads, I kinda understood why some people might not enjoy it. I happen to really love it. That is probably based on my love of food and soft spot for Asian culture. As someone who has a somewhat trepidatious relationship with their mother this book sank into my soul and found a quiet little home. The descriptive writing in this book is amazing and made me hungry every time I picked it up! For me this book had the perfect mix of whimsy and complexity of relationships. So if you're looking for a book about food, reinventing yourself and processing greif then I highly recommend this book!

I think for next month I'm going with a couple of cute romcom books! It seems fitting for the mushy month ahead! I'm also a little nervous about the short month so something I can read fast is probably a good idea!

2019 Recap and 2020 Goals!

This time last year I laid out a list of things I'd like to do and now seems like the perfect time to revisit the list! Also seems like time to scrape together a new list. Last years post can be found HERE! Overall I'm feeling quite elated with myself. I did most of the things that I set out to do. I think if I had done ALL of the items I wouldn't quite be myself. Plus if they were THAT achievable there wouldn't be much to strive for.
Completed items from last years list:
  • Learn to cook something new! I picked up baking this past year. When I originally wrote that goal I had in mind I needed to learn to how to cook meals for myself but what ended up happening is I got lost in the world of frivolous baking for pleasure! Because lets be honest you don't dive into a pie because you're hungry, you eat half a pie because you want something warm and comforting! I plan on continuing making bakes this next year and hopefully learning to cook a few dishes for myself!
  • Submit stickers designs! This one was quite scary for me if I'm being honest. BUT I DID IT. You can read about it HERE!
  • Read more books! This year I read 12 books. Which is not a lot for you avid readers, but for me its an accomplishment! I planned on blogging more about books but it kept slipping my mind. Most of this years books were sappy romantic books. There is something about the predictability that I found really comforting. Eventually I'll expand into a different genre of books, but for now bring on the sap!
  • Go to the dentist! This is probably my greatest achievement of the year! I did wait until November, but I did do it! I had a T O N of fillings and now the last thing to get done is get my wisdom teeth removed. I've been putting it off but I think I'll have to face it next year!
Vague Goals for 2020!
  • Learn how to make sour dough bread! A pen pal of mine was recently telling me how much processing bread goes though and how it can add extra chemicals that can be hard for your body to process. Which made me think I'd like to start making homemade bread! I think sourdough might be tricky but I have a whole year to learn!
  • Read 24 books! Gonna try to double last years number.
  • Make a new zine every month! I'm hoping giving myself some deadlines will help scoot along my productivity. I have a bad habit of making a hand full of zines all at once and then none for a long time. If i'm wanting to get better I think I need more consistency!
  • Get my wisdom teeth removed. The only dental thing I didn't get done last year. I've been avoiding it cause it sounds like not very much fun.
  • Cut dairy from my diet! I started to be more mindful of this one the ending of last year. I hoping by avoiding dairy it'll help my hormone imbalance and digestive issues! This might be the toughest one on the list. Honestly I'm not off to a great start, but just being more aware of what I'm eating will help I think!
Who knows what this year will bring. All I can hope for is the strength and courage to keep going! Let's hope its a good one!

Baking!

One of my new year goals was to cook something new! I started finding some interesting bakes that I wanted to try and have been baking all kinds of things. I find working with dough to be challenging but in a very soothing way. I didn't like it at first, but having everyone enjoy something that I made me want to try a second time. After the second time went much smoother I think I'm hooked! So far I've made some pork filled buns, panipopo and just recently a PIE!
My first pie from scratch is a peach, strawberry and basil pie. I found the recipe HERE. It turned out so yummy! Theres a few things that I would do differently with the crust. Now that I know what it is I'm looking for. I think next I'm going to make a blueberry-strawberry pie or a pineapple-apple pie! I still need to find more dinner and lunch ideas to cook. I imagine if I ever live alone I won't survive long off of bread and pies. BUT once I get over my baking bug I'll have to find some better things to cook!

Read it: Garden Spells and First Frost

Books number two and three! I'm keeping a pretty good pace reading more this year. I finished both of these in a couple days. They are written by Sarah Addison Allen and follow a witchy family, the Waverly sisters. The first, Garden Spells was my favorite and it was a delight to have the follow up, First Frost to get some closure with the characters. They are both pretty short so reading them back to back was nice. In the end I really enjoyed these books more than I thought I would! They follow sisters that have incredible mystical gifts and their journey dealing with family and misunderstood sisterhood.  It was very relatable for me since I only have sisters and such different dynamics with each of them. These books felt like a less spooky Practical Magic. It has that same kinda witchy- but-not, sister feels. I really wish I would have read these in the fall since there is a nice spooky-autumn vibe. If you're looking for a quick feel good read then I highly recommend these two!

Read It: Emergency Contact

One of my goals for the new year is to read more. I've been a wee bit lazy for a long time now about reading. Reading for me always comes in waves. I'll be obsessed for a little while and do nothing but read. When I say nothing, I really mean almost n o t h i n g. I have a hard time sleeping and I lose my appetite. Which is a bit obsessive I know! So I'm trying to gain a better balance this year! So far not off to a good start, I really binge read this one and finished it in one day. I can't tell if its because its that good, kinda short or I'm just THAT obsessive. But as I finish books this year I figured I'd share them!

Book number one is Emergency Contact by Mary H.K Choi. I scooped this one (and many others) off of a Paper Trail Diary's top 10 books for 2018. You can see the whole list HERE! She described this book way better than I ever could, you can find her post THERE!
I really enjoyed this book! I adored the layout. A lot of it was written in a texting style and the back and forth changing perspectives made the whole book move really quickly. Its fairly predictable but she tosses in bits of spice that make it delightfully insightful. The idea of exploring digital relationships is embarrassingly relatable for me. Its a different way and common way of communicating and building relationships that we don't talk about all that often. That is one aspect that she got perfectly. I highly recommend this book to anyone! If you've read it let me know! Also if you have any recommendations I can add to my list, let me know that too!

List of Goals!

I didn't want to set any resolutions for the year. So instead I just jotted down a few things to give me some direction for the new year, with out putting any pressure on myself. Is this a silly way to avoid setting resolutions, while actually setting them? Yes, possibly. In a strange way this just f e e l s better to me. Overall I want to get lost in myself this year. When I say that out loud it seems really selfish. I suppose what I mean is I want to indulge parts of myself that I arbitrarily deemed negative qualities. Things like not being social, getting lost in books and obsessing over art projects. I want to learn how to be more of myself and enjoy myself more. Again, its a bit silly but in the best way possible.
As I stumble my way though the list I'll be sure to update the blog (which is on the list! ha!)

2018!

My favorite part of the end of the year is seeing every ones goals and reflecting on my own. This past year has been a particularly slow blogging year for me. I put less and less pressure on myself to blog consistently and it definitely showed this past year. In 2017 I ditched resolutions and choose a theme for the year instead. (You can read about it here!) My plan was to do the same for 2018 but a theme never emerged. I waited though the winter and I still felt scattered and lost. The summer came and more of the same. Don't get me wrong I had some great opportunities arise and did some awesome things! But in between those things I was a drift and lacked any purpose. Needless to say I'm looking forward to some new-newness! I'm ready to push 2018 behind me. I hope to buckle down and focus on being more creative, being more kind to myself and lifting myself out of this fog.

To avoid making this post too terribly depressing here are my highlights of the year and all the good that I was lucky enough to experience!
1-Grid Zine! My favorite zine event of the year!
2- I also had an amazing opportunity to be interviewed about my zine! Scary wonderful stuff!
3- Had an amazing birthday with the most wonderful people in my life.
4- For the first time ever I got involved in politics! I volunteered for a political campaign and met a ton of wonderful people, learned a lot of sad things and am forever changed!
5-Took a weekend trip down to southern Utah with the campaign and learned tons about indigenous people! It was such a mind blowing experience I still am having a hard time finding the right words to describe all the feelings.

Overall not too eventful. It was filled with lots of good and lots of self doubt. But life is good. On to a new year!

2017 Recap: The Year of Being Brave

I wanted to write a post and re-cap all the cool stuff I've gotten to do this year! I really enjoy new years resolutions (which is why I started this blog in the first place, 4 years ago eep!) but coming into 2017 I just wasn't fully set on what it was I wanted to accomplish. I was mostly just trying to focus on surviving 2017 and protect my heart from all the turmoil the world was going though. So I decided to skip writing a post about it and a little bit into February it finally hit me what my resolution should be! Yes, a little late in the year I know!
My goal for 2017 was to BE BRAVE! Now usually non specific goals just don't work. Luckily I found myself using this idea as a motivator and mantra. It became my empowerment and strength to do scary things! It translated into big things (you'll read about soon!) and small things like speaking up about my political views, asking for help at the store and making a phone call. Which seem like fairly simple things, but for a social anxiety ridden introvert they were HUGE. I kept thinking 2017 was going to be encased in political shit, sexual harassment stories and the rise of racism and bigotry. (Which there was don't get me wrong) With in all that crap I found a new strength and identity as a badass strong female all thanks to my goal of being brave!

Here's a list of all the HUGE ways I was able to be brave in 2017!

ONE- Doctors. I started off the year by going to the doctors and getting some much needed anxiety medication. Mental health is really tricky to talk about sometimes and can be incredibly personal. BUT if you feel like you need it, get it! That was one of the smartest things I could have ever told myself!

TWO-  Oophorectomy. On that glorious doctor visit (the first in many, many years) my doctor found a giant cyst on my pelvic muscle. (ok so I knew it was there, but I didn't think it was anything bad!) I got it removed along with my right ovary. I had my first stay ever in a hospital! Talk about scary. I've always hated hospital and had a mini break down when they said I'd have to stay over night. Everything turned out well! Now i've this super badass scar on my belly!
(PS my one last brave thing is showing you my scar featuring a bit of muffin top! haha)

THREE- Zine Fest! I tabled at TWO different festivals last year! Even saying it now I think back and it feels very surreal. Both of them were scarier then all the doctors visits. Watching a stranger read you're personal thoughts and critique the art that you made (and kinda love) is so scary! I get butterflies and think of 10 ways my zine could be better. Its really empowering though to share some art and something personal, as scary as it might be! I was really happy I was brave enough to show up!
FOUR- Interview. I don't talk about my job much on here because I don't find it all too interesting and if I start ranting about it I might not ever stop! A strange thing about my job is that I've had it for a billion years (well it feels like that at least) I've had it for so long that I've never had to interview for a job. I got it when I was 15 and its just stuck. I decided to apply for some other jobs and I had my first interview. Which I completely bombed! Half way though I kept thinking theres no way these people will hire me, I'm giving all the wrong answers! BUT I loved the opportunity even if I ruined it! As you all know the process is very nerve wracking! Having survived the awful interview just gives me the courage to keep going after other opportunities even if I fail. I know now that its not the worst thing in the world and I can survive it!

FIVE- Bees! Oh man. I love bees (if you didn't know) I got the chance to see my neighbors hives up close! Its crazy how everything in your brain is saying "run run beeeess!" but you're almost in a trance by how beautiful they are! The most surprising thing was how loud they are. It was the coolest experience I think I've had so far in my life. I'm sure it'll be awhile before I get brave enough to mess with bees again. Its amazingly beautiful, but still scary.
SIX- Tattoo. I knew I wanted to end the year with something amazing. I wanted to take a trip but realized I was brave, but not brave enough to travel alone! (hopefully some day!) So instead I got a tattoo! You can read about it HERE. This was the perfect way to end the year. Connecting with really beautiful people and having artwork that will forever remind me of my brave year of zines, doctors, bees and tattoos!
This has been a very growing year for me. I'm so happy I have all of you along the way to share my stories too! I hope 2018 is a good one!

My Late Resolutions Post!

Its that time again where we make New Years resolutions and all get fresh starts! I'll admit this post is a wee bit late, but thats been the pattern of my life lately. Always a little bit late! The past week or so I keep reading things on how you shouldn't make resolutions and how people give up on them in February anyways, so why bother. But I've never really let myself get too discouraged about not meeting my goals and honestly I love going back and reading though my goals! Each year when I set my goals I'm in a hopeful state of mind and in that moment of the fresh year waiting in front of me, so I love reading a year ago what I had hoped and dreamed for! The whole reason why I started this blog 3 years ago was as a part of my new years resolutions!

Review of last years goals!
1- Be kind to myself! I must say I've been doing really good at this one and my self esteem is on the rise! This past year I've really grown to enjoy myself, flaws and all!
2- Be Adventurous! I did well on this one too! I tried a bunch of new restaurants and took a few vacations. I can probably still work on this one, but I'd call it a success!
3- Start a portfolio! Yeah...didn't do so great at this one. I've realized its quite a daunting task and I've no idea where to start. Maybe one day I'll figure it out!
4-Write more! I'd say this on was medium successful. I did write a lot of zines! Which have poems and little blurbs in them. I was moderately consistent but probably could kick it up a few notches!

Phew! 2015 was a challenging year full of ups and downs. The best moments in life are frequently the unpredictable ones!

2016! I'm keeping this list pretty short and broad, I don't want to put too much pressure on myself.
1- Cut down on using disposable products! This mostly means things like plastic utensils, napkins, paper plates and things of the sort. I realized at work I really go though napkins and forks like crazy! Once you start thinking about it a plastic fork a day really starts to add up! My goal now is to change this habit slowly but surly! I've already bought some cloth napkins and some un-paper towels to get me off on the right foot!
2- Respond to letters quicker! Right now I'm super slow and responding, mostly cause I get lazy. But I really want to get my turn around time to a week and under. Seems do able, right?
3- Work on building up my relationships! I am terrible at relating to people. I let 90% of my friendships and romantic relationships just dwindle away until they disappear. I've a bad reputation as as a loner and I really want to turn that around!
4- Home lunches! Lunch is one of the harder meals to plan cause you really have to think ahead. Its often hard to me to think in the morning what I want to eat later in the day. Then usually someone goes out and buys fries and my home lunch looks really depressing comparatively!  I just need to get better and planning and sticking to it!
5- Be HAPPY! Every day I try to write down 3 things that made me happy that day. I've only been doing it for a week and its amazing how much better it makes me feel! It causes me to be actively looking for happiness in the everyday. If I can keep up with it I think it can really boost the amount of HAPPY in my life!

This post is a teeeeny bit longer then usual. I'm feeling hopeful and excited for the new-newness that the start of a year always brings! I hope you all embrace the fresh path that is laid before you and make the most of your year! Best wishes and keep on keeping on!

New Years Resolutions!

Phew! Its that time of year agin! I always make goals for the year even though I often don't accomplish half the list. I just like the idea of coming up with aspirations for the new year! It gives me hope and I always feel like I can do ANYTHING!! Strange I know, but we all have our quirks!

Lets review last year!
1- Write a book! Er...didn't happen. I got a few ideas but didn't follow through on any of those.
2- Sing more songs! I improved on this one a TON! I've written a lot of new songs and learned a lot of new songs. I feel like I'm getting more confident when I play in front of people. Although my hands still get super sweaty!
3- Get organized! Oh yeah I totally conquered this one last year! I kept up on my planner and my bills. I just bought a new planner so hopefully this year can be just as organized! I just need to figure out a way to organize my snail mail.
4- Socialize! I improved on this one also! (go me!) I've put myself WAY out there! I've been on dates and am getting better at my small talk. I'm better at doing things on my own and asking when I need help in stores! I'm so proud of myself you have no idea! I mean yes, I get really bad panic attacks occasionally. But I'm not letting that stop me!
5- Open and Etsy shop! Er....yeah a no go on this one too! I keep changing what I want to do or make. Maybe one day I can figure it out!

Over all not bad! I'm quite proud of my few accomplishments! This year my list is a little bit smaller and simpler. I think its good to have goals even silly ones.

1- Be kind to myself. This is a huge one cause I'm so hard on myself. It just encourages my self doubt and negative self image. I need to love myself more and get more confidence!
2- Be adventurous! I'm still a lil'hermit. So I like my routine and familiar places. But I really want to travel more, go to new restaurants and try new things!
3- Start a portfolio. I'm always wanting to do more with my art skills. (I feel saying that but I'm not sure how else to say it!) Most of the time I draw something and I either send it in a letter or stash it in a folder some where. I really want to sit down and focus and work on creating a solid work of art that I want to share with people.
4- Write more. I like to write but I doubt my writing skills. I'm hoping once I get to a spot that I write frequently then I might gain more confidence. I'm really hoping that I can write more poems and songs! Seems do able eh?

Thats about it! I'm excited about the new year and all that it may hold! The future is so wonderful and unknown. I'm so happy to be a part of this unpredictable universe! I wish you all luck on you New Years resolutions!

This is my 400th post! I'm happy that I've kept up on my bloggity blog for this long! I'll admit I sometimes get lazy and forget a post here and there. But so far with my new calendar this year I feel like I've been keeping on top of it! Which is a great feeling. I love blogging and reading blogs. I'm so happy to part of this internet universe of clever and insightful people. Hopefully I can keep it up and learn more and become a better blogger! Maybe one day actually gain some followers. But for now I'm quite content and happy with my little soap box in the world of the inter web!

Post 300!!

This is my 300th post! I'm oddly excited for 300 not being that big of a number. But its the little things that count, right? I thought by post 300 I'd have more of a set way of doing things, but really I'm still making them up as I go! Which is a good in a way cause it keeps me from getting bored! I know I won't ever have a million followers and I don't think I could keep up with having a blog like that. The few readers that I do have I ABSOLUTELY adore them! Everyone in the blogging world has been so inspiring and definitely helped me become a more constructive creative person.

This year is off to a good start! I love blogging, reading blogs and getting to be a part of this internet world of awesome! Hopefully I can make it another 100 posts! Shouldn't be too hard, eh?

New Years Resolutions!

Phew! I can't believe its been a whole year since I started my blog! It is now officially one year old!! I'm not sure if I actually accomplished anything on my last years LIST. But one thing I have stuck with was writing this blog! I'm come to love the lil circle of friends I've found and blogs that I read. I've become quite infatuated with the lil blogging universe I find myself in the midst of.

So let's review! Last years accomplishments!
1- Be more healthy? Errr...nope! If anything I've gotten worse and gained about 10 pounds. So, yeah I don't want to think about that one any more!
2- Take more photos of myself? Hells yes! I've discovered that I'm actually quite pretty in my own unique way AND have been including myself in photos and admittedly yes, taking selfies. (I even have a picture of me in my side bar now!!)
3-Be more social? Umm... I do get out more, but as far as socializing..not so much. Baby steps?
4-Share more art? Yeah I think I've made some good progress on this one. I post lots of my doodles on here and send lots of drawings to my pen pals. Although I need to work on writing more!
5-Learn more bar chords on the ukulele? Hells yes! I've improved sooo much on the ukulele and one of these days I'll gain the confidence to play in front of more people!
6-Be positive? Let's just say I've had my bad days and good days!
7- Blog more consistently and be organized? Consistent, why yes! (December doesn't count!) I do need to work on the organized part!

Out with the old and on to the NEW! 2014 resolutions!
1- Write a book! I know, I know...I'm not a writer. But I really want to illustrate and compile a lil book of short stories. Something I can hold in my hands and say THIS IS WHAT I'VE CREATED! I think a year should be enough time right?

2- Sing more songs! I need to find my confidence! I want to play the ukulele for people and share the songs I've written. I don't want not turn beet red every time! Plus singing always improves my mood. 2014 needs to be less moody!

3-Get organized! I've been inspired by THIS to get a blogging calendar together! I also need to keep better track of bills and what nots, all around just organize myself a bit. My life is a mess I need to get it back on track!

4- Socialize! Yeah I know this was on last years list. But I really need to get out. I'm such a lil'hermit crab! I'm on the quest of join a club or group of some sort. Just ANYTHING that pushes me and will help me find more like minded people! Also getting dressed up and going on a date can't hurt anything! My lack of friends and dating is quite embarrassing and needs improvement!

5- Open an Etsy shop! I've always wanted to make stationery and envelopes to sell and maybe any other stuffs I'm currently creating. Mostly so I can get more money to put into more mail art. Also I love making stationery! I think the project will also keep my outta the deep depths of the sadness I can fall into. I'm always happiest when creating. So I think having somethings that I HAVE to do will keep me away from my moodiness!

Phew! So there you have it! I'm super long New Years resolution post! I really hope 2014 is good to me. I've had enough moodiness for 2 years now. Its about time things turned around! What are some of your goals? Are you a resolution kinda person?

I hope all you beautiful people have an AMAZING 2014! Give 'em hell!

200th Post!

Woohoo! This is my 200th post! I started this blog at the beginning of the year as one of my resolutions to be more creative and write more. I must say I'm really proud of myself, because I normally never stick to anything! But I've found that I really do love my lil' blog that I've built here. Now that we're past half way though the year its fun to look back and see the way I've changed. Even without noticing it! I'm not sure if I'm getting better at it, but I'm still having fun and that's the biggest thing right?!

Now, I'm not sure very many people actually read my blog. I've gotten better at commenting on others that I do read and started doing some ad spots and overall just taking part in the wonderful blogging community. I use to get kinda bummed thinking kinda what's the point? No one reads it anyways. But I've found that it really should be a personal thing that I get personal satisfaction out of it and if someone else thinks its neat then thats peachy keen, but having can't be the reason why I blog. I am getting better and building my blog by participating in link ups and getting better at social media junk. I'll admit I do get discouraged when I read someones blog that's only been doing it for 3 months and they have 20 comments on every post. But I'm getting there! Slow and steady! I'm starting to find my place on the interweb!

Hope you all a peachy keen day!
P.S. Don't mind the horrible quality of my sketches, I've yet to set up my scanner. On the bright side, that bear is adorable!

My 100th Post!

In January made a resolution to keep up with my new blog. I'm very happy to say that I haven't missed a day (although sometimes a bit late). This is my 100th post! I think that blogging as officially integrated itself into a part of my everyday and I'm loving it! My blog makes me feel witty and creative. I love sharing doodles and beautiful findings off the interweb. This little blog is going along swimmingly so far. Hopefully I can gain a few more readers and venture out into some other blogs for advertising and stuffs like that.

In the end I'm having so much fun! If you're reading this then thank you! I do it as a personal thing, but also because I want to share my Remi-ness with people. Being a wallflower this blog lets me share more of me then I get to in my regular life. I'm looking forward to the day I reach 200 posts!

Ukulele Adventures

I always get really obsessive when trying to learn a new song on the ukulele. My recent obsession has been Ho Hey by The Lumineers. I think I've got that one down. (well as good as its gonna get) So now I'm trying to find a new song to obsess over. I should be looking for one that has chords that you need to bar, so I can be working towards my new years resolution. But for now I just want something that's happy and cute. Isn't that what the ukulele is known for anyways?

I normally get chords from Ukulele Hunt. I haven't found any new ones on there that I really want to play. So I've found a couple on Ukulele Tabs instead. I don't really like this site as much just because they never have all the lyrics, just weird dashes. So if you don't know the song very well then you have to look up the lyrics. It isn't too big of a deal, unless your lazy like I am. The two new songs that I have picked out are Honey Bee by Zee Avi and Sunshine by Matt Costa. Both of these are really simple. My goal is to have them both memorized by the end of the weekend! I really want to challenge myself and I love both of these songs!

Wish me luck!

Success!

A month ago I started this blog and must say that I'm very proud of myself for being consistent for a whole month! It was one of my new years resolutions to blog consistently and that's the main reason why I started this new lil' blog. I haven't missed a day yet! I feel like I'm still going strong and have tons of ideas and things that I want to share. I don't think I've ever been this excited about writing and post before.

My next goal is to gain some readers. I'm sure I have the occasional stumble upon and I always force Zoei to read it. But I'm wanting to do some ad's on other blogs to hopefully increase traffic. Because it feels pretty awesome to have other people enjoy the things you write and care about. In the end if I have readers or not I'm still going to write blog posts. Mostly because I'm having way too much fun! That's the most important part right?

Keep on keeping on!
