Yellow Bird Project

You all know how much I love brands and companies that give to charities  My newest favorite is The Yellow Bird Project! Basically they get artists that design some tee shirts and all the money they make from the tees go to a charity of the bands choice. That's kinda amazing, right? I especially love this project because I'm a huge music fan. So its oober fun to see what bands I like designs and what kinda charities they find important. I'm really in love with there new Keaton Henson tee!

Overall they are a neato organization and you should get a click'n and check'em out!

Bandcamp Findings: Baby Mollusk & Aldo Fisk

My body soul feels like these kinda songs right now. Is that possible to feel like a song? (or songs?) I'm not sure, but if you can I would feel like these songs. They feel silly, nonsensical and cute. But also deep and creepy all at the same time. I could lay in bed and over think things to these tunes. I could also skip around by myself in the cold listening to these songs. So yeah, I'd say these match me perfectly for the time being. I want to give everyone hugs but then just everyone leave me be.

I think I've been rambling about my feelings too much lately. In the end, I hope you kinda like these findings off of bandcamp. These artists are unique and beautiful. If none of these songs at least make you smile a bit, you better get your head checked.

My insides feel a bit funny.

YouAreHere

I believe I am perfectly content. Well as I write this I am, it never seems to last long. I'm not really happy or sad, just kinda living for the moment. To be honest, its making me feel a bit weird. I mean, if I'm happy that's great I know how to deal with that. If I'm sad then I know what to do (or wait it out). But when I'm content, I'm not quite sure what to do. I know its not going to last long and soon the "what are you doing with your life" is going to seep in. Then I'll be back to normal worrying about little things and trying to survive this crazy world. But for now I'm just here.

I'm staring to worry a bit that I'm running out of things to blog about. Is that possible? I'm hoping that its just a bit of a rut that I'm in as far as deciding what to write about. What are some things that help you get out of your blogging rut?

Creepy Doodle.

Do you ever start drawing something and it turns into something you didn't really want it too. For some reasons my drawings either go cute or creepy. Most of the time I don't share the creepy ones, because well...they're creepy. But now I'm thinking, I spent a lot of time on that drawing why not share it. So from now on I'm going to share the drawings that have gone a little awry, starting with this guy. He started out cute and then the teeth and nose just took a weird turn.

Well, I hope you all have a lovely and successful week!

Lovely Things: Cute and Creepy

I'm constantly finding out that there is a fine line between cute and creepy. Art the successfully incorporates both of them are my favorite.

Song and a Doodle #8

I've realized that all my song and doodle posts have been songs by women. So today I decided to mix it up a bit. I've been quite smitten by The Old Grey Geese. These find fellows are one of those lovely gems you can find here in the Utah. I think people would be shocked if they knew how much amazing, folkly, sappy, singer song writer-ness is resting here in the valley. Needless to say I try to soak up my fair share of what music comes from around these parts. These are my favorite lyrics from the song cold mountain but don't forget to check out there band camp!

All the cool kids wear glasses.

I've been practicing drawing glasses. Because lets face it, glasses are cool. Although being an avid glasses wearer, I'm a bit biased.

(I added too many mouth lines. It made her look 10 years older then I intended)

Secret Penpal Scavenger Hunt

I'm always on the look out for fun penpal/snail mail projects, the secret penpal is my more rencent adventure. Basically I'm just supposed to send a box of goodies that follow a list (the scavenger part) to a person I don't know (the secret part). I've been thinking about what I'm going to send all weekend. I'm even making some little handmade randomness to send! I'm really excited about this project. Once the project is over I'll post some picture of what I sent and what I received. I've done a couple of these projects before and none of them have turned out very well. People didn't send that what said they would and crap like that. But I feel really hopeful for this one!

Also check out Wreck This Gir's Mailbox! She's the wonderfully smart girl that took on this amazing project. She sends lovely things in the mail and creates cutesy stationery!

Do you know any other fun snail mail projects?

Etsy Finds: Notebooks

I'm so obsessed with notebooks and stationery. Its hard not to be when there are so many cute paper things on Etsy! Plus notebooks are very useful, right?
How cool is this note book! You know what the best part is?! It's refillable! Thats a notebook to last a life time! On top of that all the books in the shop Mossery Co. are super adorable!

I love these bear matchbooks because they are so little! These are so handy! I need some of these to put in my bag for little sketches. From the Ready Go shop!

It's no secret that I love illustrations and pastels. I love how girly this notebook is! Milly Milk Ville shop is just full of cutsy handmade goodness!

Ah, so much artsy love on Etsy! I like art on the front of notebooks because then you can carry it around with you! I love all the illustrations in this shop are amazing!

So if you want you can buy me one (or all) of these!

Feed Project

I'm such an online shopper its probably not very healthy. One thing that I've found is that I'm more inclined to buy from companies that donate to a cause. I'm sure we have all heard about TOMS shoes by now. I love that they support a cause and are doing something to make a difference in the world. I was going to buy shoes anyways, why not buy from a company that's trying to make a difference! I'm finding that there are great companies like this all over the internet.

My most recent finding is the Feed Project. Basically there mission is to feed the world! For every one of there products that you buy provides a meal for someone around the world. Different products feed different amount of people in different parts of the world. It's an amazing idea if you ask me. Hunger around the world is a problem and if I can be a part of helping out then I want too. I know I don't do enough stuff like this to help out a cause. But if I can buy a cute bag to help out, I will!

Bandcamp Findings: Sam Means

I've been a Sam Means fan for a while. So I was super stoked to run across this album while flicking through bandcamp. I'm pretty sure this is the definition of feel good music.

Ramblings About Debbie Carlos

Today I'm rambling on about Debbie Carlos. Now I've been a fan of her photography ever since I found THESE posters! I'm sure Zoei is tired of me saying, "once I get my own house I'm getting a poster for every room." But its true! I love the idea behind a giant affordable amazing work of art. After I read THIS post, I knew that she would easily become one of my heros. I admire smart, artist women. Debbie Carlos surpasses both of these! I've a soft spot for photographers. Mostly because I think that photography is a fairly simple idea, but gets expanded into new worlds by the artists behind the camera.  I love photos that makes me ask myself questions. Debbie Carlos is a master at that. I'm not sure if that's her goal with her art work, but regardless that's why I enjoy her work so much. After all art appreciation is really a personal thing, don't you think? Check out her blog (s), they are lovely!

Can't get you out of my head.

la notte, fuori. (3)

Don't you hate when you can't stop thinking about someone. Especially a person that isn't probably the best for you. It's like any moment my brain has to wander it always wanders back to the place I don't want it to go. All of a sudden every good memory of that person comes creeping back into your brain. It's a terrible thing really, to be caught up in someone like that. But I guess it happens and this isn't going to be the last time that it will happen. Life goes on, right?

Enough rambling! I just wanna say, how lovely is this drawing! I'm loving all of Daniela Tieni's work. She's got some really powerful drawings and I'm loving the colors she uses. She combines the perfect amount of curiosity to elegance. She's pretty much amazing.

Little Bits of Artsy Love: Fashionable Bunny

Just a little bunny doodle. Isn't he stylish? What is it about animals in clothes that is so interesting?
PS: Have a good weekend!

Happy Valentines Day!

Oh hey, it's Valentines Day!

  Drawing by Michaela Klembara

It's that time of year again. Sigh. I'm sure I'm not the only one that dislikes Valentines day. I'm sure part of it is being single on this awkward holiday, but more then that it's just silly. It seems to cause more problems then anything else. Valentines day just makes couples bicker and people stress out about what to buy one another. It just seems messy and unnecessary to say the least. BUT I'm not a complete party pooper. I enjoy the general idea and am actually enjoying all the cutesy DIY crap on pintrest.

In the end I'm ok with a day devoted to love. I'm even a bit guilty of letting the hype get to my head and buying candies or something special for my loved ones. It's a bit silly but an ok kinda silly! You know what?! I love you all! (Yes you!) Have a happy day!

Printable Valentine Love

I can't believe how fast time is going by. I know, I probably say that ALL the time. But man, if you only knew how often I ponder why time is going by so fast you'd probably go insane. Valentines is quickly approaching and before you know it it's gonna be gone! If you let time escape you like it does me I've found some valentines printable love for you! There are so many blogs out there with cute ideas! Here are my favorite findings!

1) Giant Valentine's Posters! Oh Happy Day! always has the most adorable (and do-able) ideas! I know these posters are supposed to be for Valentine's but I'd love one of these just to hang up or to fold up and write a giant letter on the back!

2) Arrow Valentines! The Wild Olive has way of being so darn cute! This lady has amazing and fun illustrations and always some fun project to go along with it. If you're in a pinch just print out these to tack onto any goody!

3) Vintage Valentines! I love Goodnight Little Spoon and she has the neatest downloads! I love how unique these are!

4) Giant paper lockets!  I love that it's personal and cutsy! Design Love Fest is always artfully designed  even with there cutsy projects! (She also has AMAZING desktop backgrounds!) Although it does take a bit more effort. I think I might make one of these for Zoei (if I find the time) and just put a giant picture of my face in it. It might be a little startling, but I know Zo would totally get a kick outta it.

Are you ready for Valentines Day?

Lovely Things: Artsy Love

Band Camp Findings: Ukulele

Untitled

It's no secret that the ukulele is probably one the of the greatest things ever! If you want to argue, be careful you might get my finger in your eye. Anyways, one of my favorite things to to do is to look up the ukulele tag on bandcamp. These are three very sweet artists I've found for you! All of them are oober adorable and remind me how much I love the ukulele!

Chinese New Year!

Today is the Chinese New Year! It's the year of the snake. I've always enjoyed the new year because I really like Chinese food. Which let's face it, a Chinese new year party with out Chinese food is just silly. But not just the food I also enjoy the fire crackers even though they scare the crap out of me. The whole idea of setting a new year around the lunar calendar makes complete sense to me. I happen to also be a quarter Chinese so celebrating is a must! It's probably the only Chinese thing I will do all year.

Hope you all had a lovely weekend! Gong Xi Fa Cai!

Happy Chinese New Year 2013!
