4- I'm not ready to go back to work yet. Luckily its another short week!
5- I need to read more. I also need to stop telling myself and start doing!
6- I think THIS book seems like some easy reading I could get into.
7- Still need to respond to a massive pile of letters on my desk. *sigh*
8- Since when did I get so lazy?

10- I need an adventure! Like a REAL uncomfortable, completely new and scary ADVENTURE! Maybe come spring?

Lovely Things: Lovely Lady Links!

I was going through some of the links that I've been holding onto. I found a few of them to be on quite the strong women theme. So I wanted to share a few of them with you! Now don't worry I'm going ram it down your throat why we should all be feminist and why feminism is so important. I just wanted to share some really cool things to read!
First off! The lovely lady blogger over at Sincerely, Isabella is starting a new monthly feature called Art Collective. Mostly featuring female artists and independent unknowns. You can find it HERE. I love this idea! I love art and i've a soft spot for strong female artists. Its a lovely way to be inspired by people and discover new artists to admire! So check it out!

Second. One of my favorite blogs Too Much Light Burns the Negative, did THIS post a few days ago. I just love the way she writes so much. I love how honest and ranty this post is. It's incredibly relatable. I'm sure we've all been in that spot before when you read something and you just can't believe that people in this day and age are so narrow minded. I just love this post and wanted to share it!

Third. I found THIS ah-mazing post about female electronic musicians that changed the industry! I love this article because they have videos that go along with it! Its awesome! My knowledge about electronic music is very minimal, so I felt like I learned a lot. Plus I adore anything that highlights a strong female!

Last but not least, you didn't think I could do a post and NOT include at least one extremely feminist link?! One of my favorite new findings is a site called Who Needs Feminism? It basically challenges people to asks themselves that question and ask yourself why you need feminism? I believe that everyone needs it! I always tell people that feminism isn't radical, or man-hating club, or not shaving your legs, or not wanting a guy to open a door for you. It is recognizing gender inequality and having willingness to do something about it. I read THIS awesome article that debunks a lot of feminist misconceptions. I am always encouraging people to read about feminism and decide what it means to you. Don't just go off of what other people "think" it is. Define it for yourself.

Phew! Ok I'm done ranting. I hope theres is at least one link in here that'll spark something inside you and make you think a little bit!

Merry Christmas!

I hope you all had a lovely day filled with warm kisses and fluffy memories! Hug your babies its a white Christmas tonight!

Weekly Adventures!

The last weekend before Christmas is a crazy one! Too much to do, not enough time! We had our family gathering this evening and it was delightful! I made hand warmers for all of my cousins for our gift exchange. I probably put it off way to long, but I got them done! Thats all that matters. Not the fact that I stayed up until 3 am last night. BUT tis the season for no sleeping!
I followed THIS post that I found to make your own hand warmers. I used some quilt squares my mom had laying around. Also I added some essential oils to my rice so they were scented. I added peppermint, wintergreen, eucalyptus and lemon. Lemon was my favorite since mixed with the rice smell its smelt like a lemon tart! I think they turned out really cute! They were surprisingly easy to sew and was able to make a lot in a short amount of time.
Now all thats left is wrapping some gifts. SO MUCH wrapping to do! I hate that I always put it off until the last moment. I do it every year! Maybe next year I'll be more on top of things! At least all the shopping is done and all plans are made. Our house is decorated and tree all sparkly! Now I just need to relax and enjoy the season!

Yet another successful busy weekend. Its feeling a lot like Christmas!

Don't Forget!

This weeks reminder! Tis the season to be stressed and stretched to the max! I know its not just me but most people that are investing time into the prefect gift or over ambitious projects and new recipes. Its easy to be swept away by it ALL. Its very easy to pour yourself into things for other people. It is the season for giving after all! Within all the giving I think we forget that we give for ourselves and not for others. An amazing thing happens when you give and it's that you get happiness in return. Honestly if you don't you should probably re-think things a bit. I believe the true joy is with the moments. The wrapping presents at midnight, braving the crowds for the prefect gift, having a secret surprise for someone, working on projects in the wee hours of the night. So today's reminder is to seek joy in all the things! Before you know it material things won't mean as much as memories and joyful moments you've had in your life!

Hope you all have a busy successfully crafty wonderful weekend!

Cactus Zine!

A little while ago I did THIS post about a zine I was working on. I finally finished it! I originally wrote this to give to my dad for his birthday, but I'm so happy with it I want to share it with all of you! Its just a cute little six page zine about the hard life a cactus might lead. (but don't worry it has a happy ending!) If you'd like a copy I'd love to print one off and snail mail it to you OR if you want to print it off yourself I can send you the PDF. All you need to do is email me at remikeahi@gmail.com! If you make zines and would like to swap I'm game for that too! OR if you don't even know what the heck a zine is go HERE and then make your own!

Song and Doodle #37

Todays song and doodle is my favorite Christmas song! I feel like Christmas is sneaking up on me so I wanted to share this song before it was too late! Theres a few versions of this song but Bahamas by far is my favorite. He's got such a unique voice and this is an amazing take on a already fabulous song! I think I'm oddly picky when it comes to Christmas music, but I always have this song on repeat.
In a dream I heard a voice saying "fear not, come rejoice
It's the end of the beginning, praise the new born king"

Whats your favorite Christmas song?

List of Thoughts as of Late!

Things that have been on my mind lately:
1- TIME, time...not e n o u g h TIME!! Christmas is sneaking up on me and I don't like it!
2- Growing up with only sisters I don't know how to shop for boys. I mean, I guess my dad counts but I can still get away with drawing him a picture and calling it good. Needless to say it was quite the challenge to buy a gifty for my boy!
3- I'm not sure why but the holidays always make me over ambitious. I have a feeling I'm going to be sewing up until christmas eve!
4- Still no snow? The weather is freaking me out and not helping my un-christmasy mood.
5- I'm amazed how rude people can be. So many times in the past week i've just thought to myself. Why do people treat each other so horribly?! I don't understand how someone can just be plain rude to another human. Mind boggling!
6- I wish I could sleep in this weekend, but theres no time for sleeping in!!
7- I've never watched my bank account so closely before! What is it about the season that makes me want be buy everyone everything!!
8- The winter is making my hair so dry and staticky! Anyone have any tips to combat it?
9- I'm pretty sure I watch too many cooking tv shows. For not really cooking a whole lot.
10- I've been having trouble sleeping lately. I'm guessing its just anxiety. But its definitely catching up with me!

Hope you all have a happy and productive weekend!

Desk Findings: Gold

I haven't done a desk findings post in a while. I was working on my christmas cards and found that I had a lot of gold things piling up on my desk so I wanted to share them with you! Over time gold has become one of my favorite colors. Which makes me laugh cause I specifically remember at one point in my life despising it! I'm glad I came to my senses.
1- Fabulous gold stickers from Ink Kit.
2- Awesome note cards from Paper Source.
3- An amazing letter from my favorite pen pal!
4- A really cool wax seal and gold wax. A gift from one of my pen pals!
5- A test instax from my new Lomography instant camera

November Art Journal!

Phew! I've gotten behind but I still wanted to share my art journal for last month! Time seems to be flying by and I keep forgetting to do my journal. I'm not sure if December will be any better, but I've to try! Last month finished up my water color paper journal so now I get to start a new one! This month I'm going for a mini one. Mostly cause I don't think I'll have time to do full sized drawings to write a whole page. Just not enough time!

Weekend Adventures!

Yet another successful (kind of) weekend in the busy month of December! I feel like I'm counting down the weekends until Christmas and time is just flying bye! I'm sort of to the point where I just want it to be here already despite not being ready. I didn't get everything that I needed to this weekend but I still had a nice weekend. I suppose thats all that matters right?

I got a bunch of Christmas/ holiday cards done this weekend. I'm still obsessed with my water color set. I think they turned out pretty well! I'm not sending out as many cards as I normally do. Mostly because I'm lazy. So I really wanted to make these ones count! Hand made envelopes and all!

On Saturday me and the besties got to go see one of our favorites Joshua James! His album Willamette Mountain always reminds me of winter! I'm not sure why but I'm sure my roommates will agree with me. It was a much needed evening of good music to lift my spirits! Good tunes have a way of doing that. I feel like now I can take on the world and tackle this holiday season! Time for lights and Christmas music!
My all time favorite song. I love it even more performed live.
The opener was none other then Timmy the Teeth. Another one of Utahs own. I was really impressed with his set! The last time I saw him play I wasn't too blown away. He's coming out with a new album and I love the direction he's going in. Definitely one to watch out for!

Hope you all have a wonderful week!

Etsy Finds: Holiday Cards!

Tis the season for holiday cards!! I love sending holiday cards to my pen pals! Normally this consists of my rummaging though Etsy on black Friday to find the best deal. Or something that I can afford. But this year I decided to spend the hours at Paper Source instead. (My new favorite store!) I still wanted to share some beautiful cards that I found on Etsy!

Joni Mitchell Interview + Rant

I love Joni Mitchell! I remember the first Joni Mitchell song I ever heard was Case of You. I heard it first on the Practical Magic soundtrack. (Which by the way is one of my all time favorite soundtracks!) I instantly fell in love! Her lyrics are cryptic and her voice is so incredibly unique. Everything I've learned about her just continually impresses me! She is definitely one of my heroes. I just love successful confident women! It makes the mini feminist inside me really proud to be a women! She's so inspiring and makes me want to be a stronger and better! I love that about her.

I recently read THIS interview with her. Its an awesome interview. It shows so much of her personality and wit! I really just wanted to share that link with you and make you think about the powerful women that inspire you!  I also made you a mini play list of my favorite Joni Mitchell songs! I hope you at least fall in love with one of these songs!

Ukulele Adventures: New Slang!

I was looking for some new songs to learn on the ukulele when I came across this outrageously easy song! New Slang by The Shins! You can find tons of covers HERE. Now the chords are fairly simple and I'm sure I already know how to play all 4 of them. But whats hooking me up with this song is the lyrics. They are a wee bit bizarre (but in a good way) and he sings them with that strange voice of his that is hard to copy. So really you just have to make this song one of your own. Which makes it a really fun song to play but will take a while to prefect! You can find the chords I'm using HERE!
