November Art Journal!

This last months art journal got real layer-ee! I kinda like how it turned out. I shouldn't have added so much stuff on, but hopefully I've learned from my mistakes! The first two pages and last page are my favorite! I'm totally on board with the whole trendy bug thing! Give me all the moths! I think December is going to come and go so fast, I hope I can keep up! I better get workin!

Happy Thanksgiving!

I'm a little bit late but I wanted to say HAPPY THANKS GIVING! (for those of you that celebrate!) I had an awkward but wonderful dinner with the family. I didn't want to cook this year so I took it upon myself to make some fancy place settings (with help from Zoei of course!) I ate way too much as always! I'm not sure why thats a thing people do, but I'm not complaining!
Zoei did all the brush lettering! She's gotten really good lately, I still need a ton of practice. But I did the little white flourish-y bits! I think it turned out quite lovely. We topped it off with random greenery that we chopped off some bushes outside of work!
We each made a center piece as well. We just gathered a bunch of stuff we found outside. They look like a bit of a mess, but I really LOVE the way they turned out. Plus we didn't have to spend any money! Which means more money for black Friday sales!

I have a feeling i've got a lazy weekend ahead of myself! Let the holidays begin!

List of Thoughts + LINKS

1- I made this lil' peach babe as a postcard a little while ago. I kind of really love how she turned out and it was difficult to let her go. So it goes.
2- I've been using Native Deodorant lately. Let me tell you as far as all natural deos go this one is the best! Sometimes it feels like magic. As a person that sweats quite a bit I'm pleasantly surprised how well i've adjusted to it! Can't wait to try the other scents.
3- I finally found the perfect tattoo artist in UTAH! I'm trying to schedule something and I'll keep you guys up to date. Needless to say i'm terrifyingly excited!
4- I'm kinda sick of pumpkin flavored things, but I've to admit THESE pumpkin caramels look amazing! Maybe I can convince someone to make me caramels mmmmm.
5- I found THIS lil' Atlas Obscura post quite delightful! I've always thought doppelgängers were hella interesting after several people have told me I look like other people, which is weird but interesting! One day I'll write a zine about it.
6- I'm not excited for Thanksgiving and its kinda bumming me out. I know I still have a week to get excited about it, but I'm not holding my breath.
7- The feeling in the air just breaths of heaviness and my heart doesn't know how to digest it.
8- I bought some of THESE and I can't wait to fill them up! So teeeeeny!
9-I'm in love with THIS Instagram! She's been popping up a lot lately and I love her work. There is something so dreamy and appealing about textile art. UGH its givin me all the feels!
10- This cold chill is comin on strong. Time for some fluffy socks!

October Art Journal

This month got away from me to say the least. Fall has not beed a very good blogging month. BUT if you want to keep up with my on-goings I always keep my Instagram up to date (@remikeahi) On the bright side I have been keeping up on my art journal! This last month got a bit wet. I was using a lot of wet medium on really thin paper. So in short it became a giant mess but turned out kinda lovely is a messy way! I'll definitely have to start a new book cause this one is ruined-finshed-beautifully messed up!
AAAHHH its almost the end of the year!! *sigh*

Song and Doodle #69

I'm still practicing and getting the hang of this whole iPad drawing thing. I like the way this one turned out! I'm trying to download some new brushing and practice my typography. Anyways today I wanted to share this amazing new song that I've fallen in love with! Don't Let The Kids Win by Julia Jacklin. The first time I heard this song I busted out crying. For multiple reasons, but mainly cause it is an incredibly human song. Being human is such a weird, amazing, sad, joyful experience and this song catches all of that! Its incredibly relatable and I just adore it. Have a listen, catch all the feels!
"I've got a feeling, that this won't ever change
We're gonna keep on getting older, It's gonna keep on feeling strange"

September Art Journal

Its taken me quite a while to settle into E V E R Y T H I N G. I'll admit I got way behind on my art journal for last month. I'm having a hard time finding a new routine. It normally doesn't take this long. Maybe its the fall weather? Maybe I'm just tired? Feeling a bit blue? Who knows. There are tons to reasons. BUT this last weekend I did a few pages of all highlights of the month. I didn't have very many so this month is very short. I'm glad I at least have a little something documented!

Out Going Mail!

Finally getting caught up! I still have a few letters sitting on my desk and eyeballing me each morning as a reminder that I need to buy some stamp with my next pay check. BUT I'm glad I'm finally able to take some time and get caught up! These quickly turned into a mish-mash as my indecisiveness got worse. I'm not sure why I thought buying blank cards was a good idea, there are WAY too many possibilities!
Above the outside, below the outside! I suppose they kinda match. They both have a floral-ish theme. But I should have kept the colors the same. Oh well, still pretty!
Honey bee cards! I love how these turned out. Although I ended up only using one of them. I wasn't sure how well the little bits would hold up in the post. I'm in such a beeeees mood lately. Which is good cause I'm finally getting to put all my harvest gold art supplies to good use!

Song and Doodle #68

This weeks song and doodle is from a new/old band that I discovered the other day. I stumbled upon THIS video, which was basically life changing. Ever since then I've been obsessing over the band The Ace of Cups. They have only one album out right now and its been on repeat for a week now. I just can't get over how relevant these songs are even today. Its kind of scary how we're fighting the same battles that our sisters did in the 60s and before then. Seems like for women especially the battle is never ending. It is definitely emotionally empowering to hear ladies like this and know that we are all in this together. Even though things aren't changing the sisterhood bond is an amazing one that we all need to be reminded of from time to time. I'm not sure if I'm just super into sixties music lately is why it feels so impactful but I'm having some self discoveries with in this album and its sort of amazing for my soul. The song Glue is my favorite off the album. Have a listen and don't forget to BUY IT. It's bad for you but buy it!
"No you can’t have the glue until you buy. A model too yeah baby (at Madison Avenue)
And the model is nine to five, Too many bees in one big hive"

August Art Journal (kinda)

I knew that the month of August I wouldn't have enough time to do a normal art journal. I thought I could do a mini one or just a sketchy one. BUT I knew that if I did have any time I would feel so unmotivated and uninspired to do anything creative. So instead I decided to do a Venn diagram! Lots of events that were huge in my life took place so I for sure wanted to document it all. I thought this would be the perfect way to separate the good, the bad and things that were good/bad. I will definitely be doing more of these! It was super fun to work on and I was able to just take my time. I love the way it turned out and I'm very happy that I don't have a month missing from my collection!
Life is getting a bit more under control. Hopefully I have more positive and interesting things to share this coming fall!

Lovely Things: Flowers!

I've been holding on to the post for a while now. It made it back in the day when I had time to just peruse the internet and look at cute things! Oh how I miss those days. Always I'm a huge sucker for flowers and floral patterns. I joke that I'm going to have floral wallpaper in my house, but mark my words it is happening! (One day!) I think most people like flowers, I mean whats not to like. They're pretty, smell good and occasionally have bugs in them. As someone who recently is loving bugs its a win, win win! I'm getting off my lazy blogger butt today and I hope you find this collection of lovely things lovely! If not I might have to start calling it something else!?
I love THIS post about a Frida inspired wedding! I LOOOVE the idea of huge floral crowns! Its the kinda wedding dreams are made out of!
I'm always in awe of people who can make paper flowers look like the real thing. Definitely adding this book on to the list of must haves. One day I hope I can take a flower making class!
I'm in love with THIS planner and still planner obsessed even though I kinda stink at following though on mine. I'll still stick with the theory that you can never have too many planners!
THIS paper garland is amazing. I love the idea of using patterned paper! It adds a beautiful amount of texture.

All my pen pals are showing off their new portfolio bags and I want one so badly! I know I don't need one. I don't write letters on the go that much, but I just adore THIS jungly leaf pattern. I love organization bags! Which is ironic since I'm very slightly unorganized all the time.

So many lovely things, never enough money to buy them all!

List of Thoughts + LINKS

List of Thoughts:

  1. Life is crazy lately. Work is getting a huge change up and I'm moving! August is packed with anxiety and well...packing!
  2. I'll be honest I hate moving. I can't wait until I can buy a home! Then I'm never moving again!
  3. Me and my sisters participated in GISHWHES this last week. It was a TON of fun! I'll post some pictures soon!
  4. I wish I had more money to make a spontaneous trip to San Fransisco and go to the Color Factory. Tickets sell out so fast I hope that means they'll keep doing it for a while!
  5. I hate packing. I have WAY too much stuff. Also packing up all my art supplies really bums me out and kinda kills my creative vibe. Which is good cause I don't have time to create anything anyways. Still a bit of a bummer though.
  6. I'm loving this artist, John Hendrix's sketchbook. The "drawing in church" idea is so cool.
  7. Adam JK has a new book out about being a creative and it looks AMAZING! Although I don't need to add any books to my collection. Book are a pain in the butt to move! They're so heavy!
  8. My garden isn't doing so well. I'm surprised its not totally dead, but its hanging on by a thread.
  9. Maybe I'm not suppose to be gardener? I really do have sour hands like my grandma use to say.
  10. I really hope fall brings some goodness. I'm looking forward to sweaters and pumpkins. I'm really just hoping things can calm down and I can find my footing a little bit.

GISHWHES!

Last week was GISHWES week! I had no idea what this was until my sister forced me sign up and be on her team. I'm so happy that I did! It was a week filled with random creativeness and good deeds! GISHWES basically a giant scavenger hunt. There is this huge list of tasks to get done and you're put on a team with 14 other people across the world. I love all the tasks cause all of them are creative and most of them are good deeds around the community. I really wish I had more time to complete more tasks. I was in the middle of packing boxes which didn't help. BUT I thought I'd share the ones that I did complete!
SPICE ART- Using only spices re-create your favorite comic book cover or cartoon. I chose to do Daria. Well because I love Daria! I actually love most 90s cartoons.
CAPTURE A MOON FAIRY- I drew this really good moon fairy in my back yard with a glow stick and long exposure app. It was SO MUCH FUN!
PLANT A BEE FRIENDLY PLANT DRESSED AS A BEE- This was my all time favorite task! My sister was nice enough to dress up! I love the idea of people across the world planting bee friendly plants. Save the bees!!
PAY FOR A LOAD OF LAUNDRY- This one you had to decorate envelopes and leave enough change for someone to do a load of laundry. My mom completed this one. I just imagine that these little envelopes made someones laundry experience better!

I had so much fun! My group was amazing and so encouraging. I couldn't has asked for a cooler group of random strangers across the world! This is the last year that they are doing it, but its so popular that I'm sure someone is going to pick it up. OR something similar to it. If I do find something like the sort I'll be sure to post it!
