Happy Holla-Days!

I hope you all are having a very bright and joyous holiday season! I'm spending so much time with loved ones and my heart is so full. I've eaten way too much food and treats, but I just can't help myself! I hope happiness fills your homes!

Song and Doodle #70

In between all the holiday music i've been listening too, I keep finding the cover Whole Wide World by the Bahamas sneaking into my playlists. I really adore this song. Overall its just a feel good song. Especially for us around the holidays that are on the more single side of things. This song is just full of hope in the midst of the winter daze. Bahamas has such a unique soothing voice, I love it! I do love the original, but this cover is just the tops! PS- I'm loving all this typography iPad practice lately!
"There's only one girl in the world for you
And she probably lives in Tahiti"

Lovely Things: Solstice Vibes

Today is one of my favorite days of the year! I have always loved the winter solstice. The whole day is mysterious and magical. The shortest day of the year and longest night of the year. I always feel like I need to call out to universe and ask for the days to be longer. In the midst of frozen winter all you can hope for is more sun. I think if you ask correctly with a sincere heart the universe will listen! I could rant on more about it but instead I complied a list of some lunar-y solstice vibes. So many cute things out there!

My two favorite things, the moon and beeeees! (Gimme Flair)
How cute is this DIY moon lamp? (Johanna Rundel)
Beautiful lunar calendar to keep track of the moon! (Durido)
I love this whole set. Although wearing them all at once might be a bit much! (Layered and Long)
You can't have a successful solstice with out a fire pit! This one is just lovely. (Bad Idea Supply)

Happy Solstice my friends! Hope for longer days!

Tattoooooooo!

As an early Christmas gifty to myself I got my very first tattoo! The entire day was completely magical! I've been stocking different tattoo artists on instagram and I finally found the perfect one! You can see her instagram HERE. All her work is incredibly dreamy! A little surreal, a little nature-y and a whole lotta texture! I'm in love with all her illustrations so I knew right away anything she designed I would love. I gave her a brief description of what I wanted and she had 3 of the most amazing little sketches!
Isn't it amazing!! My heart still melts when I look at it! I got a honeybee split in half to represent me and my twin. (Also two halves are better than one, obviously!) I also wanted a little fire and water tossed in. My Hawaiian middle name (Keahi) means fire and my twins middle name (Hi'ilawe) is a waterfall in Hawaii. I love the style and it is everything I had ever dreamed of getting! The placement is spot on and ugh I can't get over how much I love it!!

I wanted my first one to have a good story. So I choose someone who was a little further away (about a 2 1/2 hour drive) and make a day of it! Her studio was just a little space in the back of a crepery. The little town was adorable and lightly covered in frost. It was so picturesque! We went to a small restaurant for lunch and wen to this interesting lil' junk store. From waking up early to getting home exhausted the whole day was a dream! I made some amazing memories and it was exactly what my heart and soul needed! This is also the last thing on my "being brave" list for 2017 (which I'll do a long post about it all later!)

I hope my next one is equally amazing. Its definitely going to be hard to beat!

November Art Journal!

This last months art journal got real layer-ee! I kinda like how it turned out. I shouldn't have added so much stuff on, but hopefully I've learned from my mistakes! The first two pages and last page are my favorite! I'm totally on board with the whole trendy bug thing! Give me all the moths! I think December is going to come and go so fast, I hope I can keep up! I better get workin!

Happy Thanksgiving!

I'm a little bit late but I wanted to say HAPPY THANKS GIVING! (for those of you that celebrate!) I had an awkward but wonderful dinner with the family. I didn't want to cook this year so I took it upon myself to make some fancy place settings (with help from Zoei of course!) I ate way too much as always! I'm not sure why thats a thing people do, but I'm not complaining!
Zoei did all the brush lettering! She's gotten really good lately, I still need a ton of practice. But I did the little white flourish-y bits! I think it turned out quite lovely. We topped it off with random greenery that we chopped off some bushes outside of work!
We each made a center piece as well. We just gathered a bunch of stuff we found outside. They look like a bit of a mess, but I really LOVE the way they turned out. Plus we didn't have to spend any money! Which means more money for black Friday sales!

I have a feeling i've got a lazy weekend ahead of myself! Let the holidays begin!

List of Thoughts + LINKS

1- I made this lil' peach babe as a postcard a little while ago. I kind of really love how she turned out and it was difficult to let her go. So it goes.
2- I've been using Native Deodorant lately. Let me tell you as far as all natural deos go this one is the best! Sometimes it feels like magic. As a person that sweats quite a bit I'm pleasantly surprised how well i've adjusted to it! Can't wait to try the other scents.
3- I finally found the perfect tattoo artist in UTAH! I'm trying to schedule something and I'll keep you guys up to date. Needless to say i'm terrifyingly excited!
4- I'm kinda sick of pumpkin flavored things, but I've to admit THESE pumpkin caramels look amazing! Maybe I can convince someone to make me caramels mmmmm.
5- I found THIS lil' Atlas Obscura post quite delightful! I've always thought doppelgängers were hella interesting after several people have told me I look like other people, which is weird but interesting! One day I'll write a zine about it.
6- I'm not excited for Thanksgiving and its kinda bumming me out. I know I still have a week to get excited about it, but I'm not holding my breath.
7- The feeling in the air just breaths of heaviness and my heart doesn't know how to digest it.
8- I bought some of THESE and I can't wait to fill them up! So teeeeeny!
9-I'm in love with THIS Instagram! She's been popping up a lot lately and I love her work. There is something so dreamy and appealing about textile art. UGH its givin me all the feels!
10- This cold chill is comin on strong. Time for some fluffy socks!

October Art Journal

This month got away from me to say the least. Fall has not beed a very good blogging month. BUT if you want to keep up with my on-goings I always keep my Instagram up to date (@remikeahi) On the bright side I have been keeping up on my art journal! This last month got a bit wet. I was using a lot of wet medium on really thin paper. So in short it became a giant mess but turned out kinda lovely is a messy way! I'll definitely have to start a new book cause this one is ruined-finshed-beautifully messed up!
AAAHHH its almost the end of the year!! *sigh*

Song and Doodle #69

I'm still practicing and getting the hang of this whole iPad drawing thing. I like the way this one turned out! I'm trying to download some new brushing and practice my typography. Anyways today I wanted to share this amazing new song that I've fallen in love with! Don't Let The Kids Win by Julia Jacklin. The first time I heard this song I busted out crying. For multiple reasons, but mainly cause it is an incredibly human song. Being human is such a weird, amazing, sad, joyful experience and this song catches all of that! Its incredibly relatable and I just adore it. Have a listen, catch all the feels!
"I've got a feeling, that this won't ever change
We're gonna keep on getting older, It's gonna keep on feeling strange"

September Art Journal

Its taken me quite a while to settle into E V E R Y T H I N G. I'll admit I got way behind on my art journal for last month. I'm having a hard time finding a new routine. It normally doesn't take this long. Maybe its the fall weather? Maybe I'm just tired? Feeling a bit blue? Who knows. There are tons to reasons. BUT this last weekend I did a few pages of all highlights of the month. I didn't have very many so this month is very short. I'm glad I at least have a little something documented!

Out Going Mail!

Finally getting caught up! I still have a few letters sitting on my desk and eyeballing me each morning as a reminder that I need to buy some stamp with my next pay check. BUT I'm glad I'm finally able to take some time and get caught up! These quickly turned into a mish-mash as my indecisiveness got worse. I'm not sure why I thought buying blank cards was a good idea, there are WAY too many possibilities!
Above the outside, below the outside! I suppose they kinda match. They both have a floral-ish theme. But I should have kept the colors the same. Oh well, still pretty!
Honey bee cards! I love how these turned out. Although I ended up only using one of them. I wasn't sure how well the little bits would hold up in the post. I'm in such a beeeees mood lately. Which is good cause I'm finally getting to put all my harvest gold art supplies to good use!

Song and Doodle #68

This weeks song and doodle is from a new/old band that I discovered the other day. I stumbled upon THIS video, which was basically life changing. Ever since then I've been obsessing over the band The Ace of Cups. They have only one album out right now and its been on repeat for a week now. I just can't get over how relevant these songs are even today. Its kind of scary how we're fighting the same battles that our sisters did in the 60s and before then. Seems like for women especially the battle is never ending. It is definitely emotionally empowering to hear ladies like this and know that we are all in this together. Even though things aren't changing the sisterhood bond is an amazing one that we all need to be reminded of from time to time. I'm not sure if I'm just super into sixties music lately is why it feels so impactful but I'm having some self discoveries with in this album and its sort of amazing for my soul. The song Glue is my favorite off the album. Have a listen and don't forget to BUY IT. It's bad for you but buy it!
"No you can’t have the glue until you buy. A model too yeah baby (at Madison Avenue)
And the model is nine to five, Too many bees in one big hive"
