You first.

Another weird dream I had that I wanted to draw. Although I had to fill in the blanks a little bit, I don't always remember the exact dialogue of my dreams.

Me: Do you want to hide together?
You: Yes. In the envelope?
Me: Do you think we'll both fit?
You: And I'm the negative one?
Me: Ok, you go first.
You: Well hold my hand...

June Art Journal

I'm not sure why but June was a really boring month and I didn't really have much to journal about. I finished up this lil' note book and am excited to start a new one! This month turned out a bit of a mish mash, but thats ok! Some months are going to be better than others!

Song and Doodle #73

Todays song and doodle a little bit different music wise! I'm so not a heavy metal music kinda person what so ever, but luckily I've people around me that are! I've always thought that its important to listen to music that you wouldn't normally. So todays song is God Damn by Avenged Sevenfold! Now what I'm finding with heavy metal is that they touch on a lot of interesting subjects. Sometimes it is hard to looks past the gruffness of the song and listen to what they are saying (or maybe that just me?)
I really like the lyric in this song "can't heal the wound before we bleed" I love this because its so true! We need to feel the hurt and the pain and then the healing can begin. I enjoy that this kind of heavy song reminded me of relief that comes with healing. After all the icky wounds and crap that gets tossed at you though out life there is always healing. This really applies to the current state of our country it feels like. There are so many people suffering and I can only hope that from this suffering we gain healing. I hope that we can come together, do what it right and learn from all these wounds.  Of course this song touches on a lot more than that. It has a lot of clever lyrics about mortality, good verse bad and the state or society. Overall this song just has a lot you can pick apart. At the root its clever and makes you think and I can get on board with that!
"Can't see the forest for the trees
Can't heal the wound before we bleed"

Happy Independence Day!

Such a strange holiday today! Lately with this political climate I'm finding it hard to be patriotic. Seems like every day theres something new and terrible happening. I know that this country has a lot of great things going on, but I know that we're out there doing a lot of damage in the world also. Its such a mixed bag of emotions. I was thinking about what to write this morning in the shower. I was able to reduce today down to celebrating a group of people who decided to be brave. They knew things could be better and decided to make a change! I'm really grateful for all of our founders that saw there was a better way! I can only hope that one day we'll recognize things could be better and we can be brave enough to stand up and do something about it!

Out Going Mail!

I treated myself to a gouache set a couple weeks ago! I've never worked with this type of watercolor paint-ness before so I'm quite excited. My first go I opened the red tube and it squirted EVERYWHERE. It was like something out of horror movie! I decided to paint all these little strawberries to use up all my squished out red. I did the front and backs and near the end I was really, like r e a l l y tired of strawberries! Now thinking upon it why didn't I paint something else? I guess I just had berries on the mind! Regardless I learned a lot about what NOT to do with these lil' tube-ys. I also realized that this gouache stuff is really tricky to work with! I'm gonna have to watch some youtube videos. If this is something you've worked a lot with please give me some tips!!
