Today's song and doodle is a lovely Elliot Smith song! I'm particularly excited about this song because the wondrous Seth Avett and Jessica Lea Mayfield released an album of Elliot Smith covers! I'm sure I could go on for pages about this new album, but I'll save you all a rant. I do want to urge you to check it out! Top notch stuff! BUT for today heres one of my favorite Elliot Smith songs covered by two lovely souls! Let me know what you think? Is the original better?

I stumbled upon this video this morning and fell in love. I'm spending this week with my dad. Who happens to be a really awesome guitar player and musician. Now that we're into the cold winter days of January I'm day dreaming of summer! I'm not a warm weather kinda person unless its cold then all of a sudden I'm a huge fan of the sun! Neat Artists: Emily Diana Ruth
My latest obsession is the film maker/video blogger Emily Diana Ruth. I stumbled upon one of her videos a week ago and have slowly been wasting my fee time shuffling though all her wonderful videos. I've gathered a few of my favorite ones to share with you! I'm always enamored by people who can create beautiful things. So simple, warm and artsy! I just love it. After I'm done binge watching some videos I think I'll have enough gusto to get off my bum and create something beautiful. Even if its something small and silly, its good for the world. Don't you think?

Today's song and doodle is a song from the wondrous Jessica Lea Mayfield. After getting overly excited about her new cover album coming out soon, I realized that I haven't been keeping up with her newer stuff. After tracking through her latest album I was completely taken by this song! The lyrics are relate-able and simple. Drowning in a sea of dreamy electric guitar and catchy little riffs. This song is a gem and definitely get highlighted on my best of 2014 list!

Song and Doodle #38
Todays song and doodle comes from one of my favorite songs Let It Go by James Bay. I'll be honest with I first heard this song I didn't really like it. I thought his voice was too perfect and kinda poppy. Upon accidentally adding it to my YouTube play list and it popping up every few songs I realized that I should give this song a better listen. Ever since I've been in love with it. After listening to the lyrics its kind of a sad and realistic song about trying to let go when you really don't want too. Its relatable, charming and overall a good listen. If you're searching for something to blow your mind, probably not going to do it. If you need something good to listen to as you clean or work on projects this is the guy for you! I'm super stoked for him to release a full album!
So whats the verdict? Ears bleeding or heart swooning?

Ahoy my lovelies! I can't believe its the end of the year already!! Time just keeps on keeping on. Which is a good thing I suppose! I hope all of you are ringing in the new year in your own wondrous way. Whatever that may be, partying, snuggling up on the couch or unloading massive amounts of fireworks!! I wanted to share one of my all time favorite songs with you and one of my favorite songs to play on the ukulele.
I know you've probably seen this video make its rounds, but its so lovely! You can go HERE to learn all the ukulele chords. Its tricky but very satisfying once you get it down.

Todays song and doodle is my favorite Christmas song! I feel like Christmas is sneaking up on me so I wanted to share this song before it was too late! Theres a few versions of this song but Bahamas by far is my favorite. He's got such a unique voice and this is an amazing take on a already fabulous song! I think I'm oddly picky when it comes to Christmas music, but I always have this song on repeat.

Weekend Adventures!
Yet another successful (kind of) weekend in the busy month of December! I feel like I'm counting down the weekends until Christmas and time is just flying bye! I'm sort of to the point where I just want it to be here already despite not being ready. I didn't get everything that I needed to this weekend but I still had a nice weekend. I suppose thats all that matters right?
I got a bunch of Christmas/ holiday cards done this weekend. I'm still obsessed with my water color set. I think they turned out pretty well! I'm not sending out as many cards as I normally do. Mostly because I'm lazy. So I really wanted to make these ones count! Hand made envelopes and all!
On Saturday me and the besties got to go see one of our favorites Joshua James! His album Willamette Mountain always reminds me of winter! I'm not sure why but I'm sure my roommates will agree with me. It was a much needed evening of good music to lift my spirits! Good tunes have a way of doing that. I feel like now I can take on the world and tackle this holiday season! Time for lights and Christmas music!

The opener was none other then Timmy the Teeth. Another one of Utahs own. I was really impressed with his set! The last time I saw him play I wasn't too blown away. He's coming out with a new album and I love the direction he's going in. Definitely one to watch out for!

My newest favoritest song for this week is Proudest Monkey by Dave Matthews Band. I guess I should say new old song! I was having a pretty crummy day this morning and put on the Crash album by the end of it I was feeling better and this song was the last track. First off you can't go wrong with Dave Matthews. Its automatic feel good music. I was listening to this song and I found it to just be so incredibly eye opening beautiful. It feels sweet and silly because its about monkeys! After listening to it I realized that we are all at one point the proudest monkey. We all take these amazing journeys in our life and constantly look back and question ourselves. But we continue on anyways. Pushing forward and trying our best to learn and open our eyes and experience life and reach for life and love and personal satisfaction. For today, I am a humble monkey.

Making Mail Documentary.
One of my favorite pen pals was in a documentary and now you can watch the whole thing online! Snail mail and mail art is one of my favorite things in this terrible world. This movie is so inspiring and definitely makes me want to step up my mail art game! I always feel like a big nerd when people ask me about my hobbies. I normally get a crooked look when I say I like to write letters. Then the question that follows that is "to who?" People of the world of course!! Mail art is just one of those things that is greatly unappreciated. I know that everyone wants to get mail, especially beautiful artsy mail. So i'm surprised that more people don't write and send letters to loved ones and strangers. This documentary captures the feels that I get when I write letters and shows people with the same enthusiasm as me and I don't feel like a big nerd after all!
After you're done watching it go write some letters! I know theres a friend or a family member that would love a letter from you! Mail is wonderful so why not send some love? Print isn't Dead publication! People of Print is one of my favorite blogs/sites to read. Now they're putting out the second edition on their magazine. They have TONS of amazing artists based around printing. Its also incredibly inspiring. Check out the kickstarter HERE!

Song and Doodle #31
I was listening to a podcast of the top songs of 2014 so far. One of them was a Damien Jurado song and I realized that I knew the artist but I haven't dug into his music much. So I took then night and tracked through his discography, which was a lot more extensive then I had thought. Normally he's one of those artists that I know of and enjoy a few of this songs but always kinda brushed him off. It wasn't until I finally sat down to listen to him that I realized this guy is pretty good. He's got a knack for writing complicated lyrics that seems simple. Accompanied by this unique earthy voice. A part of me wishes he wrote short poems or stories. The song thats todays doodle, Everything Trying, isn't my all time favorite of his. BUT I adore how simple it is and how it wraps you up in relatable, tangible feelings. With that said I hope you enjoy this song and doodle!

Lovely Things: Ukulele Videos!
The ukulele is one of my all time favorite things! Its easy to learn but really hard to get good at it. So todays lovely things are all people who have mastered the ukulele! I'm blown away by all of these artist! I can only hope that one day I'll be as good at these guys. I guess I should get practicing!

Feels like Tuesday!
Such a rainy day today! It definitely feels like fall. I'm not complaining one bit! Fall is my favorite season. I got to wear boots and a sweater today! I'm probably way to happy about that. A few tuesdays ago I was having a weird day. This was a text that my friend sent me. Now I think about it every Tuesday and it makes me chuckle a little bit. Lying like a lump! Tuesdays are a bit weird. But today was nice. Nice and rainy, nice people, nice dinner, nice evening. Just n i c e! How can one complain about that?
To share my fall-ness feelings heres a little song to get you in the mood! I'm not sure why but this song ALWAYS reminds me of fall! In the best way possible!
