Weekend Adventures!

It was a long weekend and a very successful one at that! So I thought I'd share some of my adventures. Well, they aren't very exciting but still OH SO productive!

The weekend started out with a concert in the park with the besties! I love hanging out with these guys and they always put up with my anxiety and awkwardness! We saw The Head and The Heart! They were amazing! Got to eat some yummy food and be surrounded by drunk idiots! Overall it was a fun and a excellent way to start the weekend! 

The rest of the weekend was spent cleaning! Its been over a year since I moved out of my parents place but I never fully "moved" out. I still had tons of stuff that needed to be sorted and boxed! As I was cleaning I kept coming across some fantastic finds. I totally forgot most of this stuff existed so I decided to take some pictures and share! Most these photos aren't very good cause I was in the midst of cleaning and sweating, but you'll get the idea! 

 This is one drawing that I decided to keep. I should really finish it one day!

I've no idea what this was all about. I think it was a book idea at one point that stopped after the cover was made. Or maybe a zine idea? I'm sure the rest is written in one of my sketchbooks somewhere!

A screen print I did for a friend AGES ago! I'm glad I kept this one I forgot how awesome it turned out! I wish I had saved more screen prints. I'm sure somewhere or got lost in the move.

Last but not least! A project from high school art class! I don't remember what the project was exactly, but I kinda love the way it turned out. I'm pretty sure I didn't follow what I was suppose to do anyways. I think I might've tossed this one. It was too bulky to fit in my sketchbook box. I ended up filling 2 whole boxes just with sketchbooks and projects! AND I threw away a ton also! 

Phew! Busy weekend! Its nice to get it all clean and put away. Also I snagged a ton of art supplies for our newly cleaned craft room! Let the craftiness begin! 

August Accomplishments + Doodle!

Phew! Yet another month that has gone by way to fast! August was a bit more successful then July. Which is always good! On ward and upwards! I got a lot more letters written this month. Although I still have quite a stack to work on. I keep putting off the really long ones and just need to commit and get them done! I went visiting teaching for the first time! I'm so not a social person and don't enjoy going over to peoples homes just to chat. BUT I did it and I felt really proud of myself for breaking out of my comfort zone a little bit. I think  I'm making new friends which is good for me! This weekend I finally got my old room at my parents cleaned out! It only took a year! It was kinda exhausting but fun to go though all my old drawings and random crafty ideas. Man, I'm sure a pack rat! So not looking forward to moving out of this place! I also finally got our craft room set up. Well kinda. I still need to organize things and buy some chairs. It's a step in the right direction though! Last but not least! I met a really cute boy! I know he's really bad news, but also one of the best things to happen to me in a long time. I don't want to jinx it so I better shut up about it! I must say I'm looking forward to September! I'm ready for some fall weather and new things to come!

This months doodle! Its a bit different then my normal doodles. It does still have the "cute" factor. I've been trying to work on some new ideas and pushing my skills a little bit. Theres lots of things I'd change about this drawing, but for a quick doodle on a Sunday night. Not bad. I'm liking this instant photo drawing kinda theme. We'll see where it goes!

This has never felt more real to me then during this past week. I feel like this week was fairly successful. I pushed myself and did a lot of things to help me be a better person. Overall not a bad week in the land of Remi. One thing I realized is that once you overcome your short comings you can see how much they were actually weighing you down. You can see how much you are your own worst enemy. BUT the amazing thing is that you already have the tools inside yourself to over come it! You can control your own life. That seems like a really silly reminder, but way to often it feels like things are out of our control. When really we control a lot more the we think and blame other things for our downfalls. Which don't get me wrong, I do it ALL the time! Sometimes you just need to be reminded! So make the conscious decision to embrace your faults!

No Rain Ukulele Song!

One of my favorite ukulele blogs posts the chords to Blind Melon's No Rain. I was stoked because it's one of my favorite songs! Its such a great song and has the best little riff! I know its going to be a bit tricky cause I've never been very good at reading or playing tabs. I think the challenge will be good for me! I've gotten into a bit of a ukulele rut, not finding any songs that catch my interest. I love Ukulele Hunt cause all of the chords and tabs are easy to read. He gives strumming tips and you can hear how tabs and strums are suppose to sound! Its amazing and makes learning it WAY easier! Somebody needs to give that guy a gold star! Ha or ya know a hug or something! He deserves it! Anyways you can go HERE to learn how to play it too!
