Out Going Mail!

I treated myself to a gouache set a couple weeks ago! I've never worked with this type of watercolor paint-ness before so I'm quite excited. My first go I opened the red tube and it squirted EVERYWHERE. It was like something out of horror movie! I decided to paint all these little strawberries to use up all my squished out red. I did the front and backs and near the end I was really, like r e a l l y tired of strawberries! Now thinking upon it why didn't I paint something else? I guess I just had berries on the mind! Regardless I learned a lot about what NOT to do with these lil' tube-ys. I also realized that this gouache stuff is really tricky to work with! I'm gonna have to watch some youtube videos. If this is something you've worked a lot with please give me some tips!! 

Happy Solstice!

Happy Summer Solstice! This is one of my favorite times of year. I love the reminder that we are just specks on this wonderful earth. The cycle continues like it has long before us and how it will long after us. All we can do is gather together on the longest day of the year and hope that we're lucky enough to be a part of this beautiful cycle a little bit longer!

May Art Journal!

May art journal! I made this little booklet with fold out pages a long time ago. I was saving it for a special project but then realized I've got a dozen little notebooks I'm "saving" for some reason. I was looking for something small for my next art journal and this lil' one was perfect! I'm hoping in my June art journal I'll have time for some more illustrations. This past month was a bit wordy! I guess I just had a lot to say!

VERVE Interview!

I little while ago I told you guys that I got the amazing opportunity to be interviewed by a local web series VERVE and now my episode is released! I'm so stoked that I got the chance to talk about ZINES! Zines are one of my all time favorite things and I'm so happy that I get to share my love of zines with everyone. I'm still shocked that I was given this opportunity despite being really shy and dorky. I also got to meet the cooooolest group of creatives that put these things together. Theres something wonderful about getting to work with other creatives! You can see more of the series HERE. They did such a good job editing it! I love the music and they totally made me sound like I knew what I was talking about, cause I really doubt I sounded that confident! Its such a weird thing to here and see yourself! I had no idea my voice sounded like that! Also I make some really strange faces when I think no one is looking. Overall I'm really excited and happy with how it all turned out!

My hope is that someone will see this and be inspired to make their own zine! I truly do feel like art and zines are for everyone and everyone could benefit from making one! So if you've been thinking about it, now is the time to make one!
